Sacrifice to the Toddler Gods [M][O]

Unfortunately, the other two looked like they’d been picked over by a Mandibuzz. Likely a mixture of wartime panic and the time of the month. Still, she had emerged (mostly) victorious in her foraging. Only one item remained unclaimed: Special Edition Plant-Based Snom Nuggets. Her toddler usually wolfed down Daddy’s culinary masterpieces without complaint. But one commercial for these tofu blobs and she’d become obsessed. [break][break] And, judging by the freezer section at the other stores, the young people of Hoenn were some kind of hivemind. Now, she had an insatiable toddler who refused to eat anything else. Even Leon’s homemade pasta could not sway those stubborn baby blues. [break][break] ‘I want Snom nuggets!’ The same demand played on repeat. Sometimes it was uttered in Alto Maren. [break][break] As Aubre rounded the corner—a little empty basket swinging from her hands—her heart pounded in her chest. A Magearna shuffled behind her, occasionally stopping to bow at people, Pokemon, and the freezers. “All right, Aubre. Aisle 18. French fries, uncrustables, pretzels, and—” Tired eyes lit up as she saw it. A single, slouched bag of pressed soy on the top shelf. [break][break] Her wan smile turned authentic for a moment. “!” But she wasn’t the only person in the aisle. Her heart stopped. Green eyes widened as she watched a hand reach into the freezer. No! They can’t be!” Driven by exhaustion and desperation, the doctor reached for the bag just as it came out of the freezer. "Excuse me!” Her words died in her throat. There was no justification for this. She’d almost tackled them. [break][break] Way to be a jackass, Aubre. Just show everyone your true colors.[break][break] The Magearna's head tilted. Pink eyes narrow in confusion.
